Villages of Piedmont, Phase II

Phase Two of the Villages of Piedmont was developed by Equinox as an enhancement of an existing community in Haymarket, Virginia, achieved by adding homes and numerous community amenities in lieu other uses on land that was previously zoned for heavy industrial and commercial use.  In addition to creating Leopold’s Preserve, a 380-acre conservation easement with over seven miles of trails, Equinox also built a second clubhouse and recreation area complete with a pool, playground, sports field, dog park and pavilion.  These amenities are heavily landscaped with a focus on the extensive use of native plant materials. White House Natives supplied numerous native trees to this project to including willow oak (Quercus phellos), red maple (Acer rubrum), redbud (Cercis canadensis), river birch (Betula nigra), American sycamore (Platanus occidentalis), American holly (Ilex opaca), eastern redcedar (Juniperus virginiana) and loblolly pine (Pinus tæda). After several growing seasons, this now-established landscape was on full display with brilliant fall color this past November.  [Photos taken early November 2021.]
