Crystal City Water Park Catalpa [Oct 2023]

Not often found or used in urban areas, Catalpa speciosa is known for its large leaves and long, bean-like seed pods.  Often found around older homes or parks this 3” caliper Catalpa found its way into an urban oasis to add to the diversity of other native trees planted at the newly-renovated Crystal City Water Park. It will be interesting to see how this and the other native trees perform over the years and we are glad that forward-thinking designers and architects are finding unique and creative ways to utilize and integrate native trees into all of our landscapes.
